How to Manage personal Data online ?? (Part 1)

Type of Personal Data

There are several online cloud spaces which you can use for different purpose. In case, you don't know about them or having confusion the way they can be used, it's the right place. :) In Dec 2015, I also had questions about .. how can I manage my data online/offline. I just want to share my experience with you Or say the things which I am following right now. I hope it will help you/everyone

Generally, we have following type of data which we want to keep safe and want to access them across different platforms in different ways.

• Photo/Pictures
• Videos
• Documents (PDFs/WordDoc/Xls/PPTs)
• Encrypted Data (Usually Backup data)
• Songs
• Movies
• Software

Now, with every data we have some constraints or conditions or Privacy issues and all. I am considering all these as "Properties of that particular data". I have categorized them in following Properties.

Photo/Pictures:

Privacy:
The very first constraint we have the Privacy of our data. We have 3 type of Photo/Snaps in our data base.

1. Public : We want some pics to be public and we are okay to share them with anyone.
2. Limited Public : This is one category which is very popular now a days. People are okay to share their pics but they want to control who can see them.
3. Private : A lot of data comes into this category. Basically, this is the data which we want to keep as backup also.

Quality:
While we take a snap, sometime we do the setting as per our requirement and sometime we don't care about that. Like we need to see picture on our mobile device but still we took it at 16MP and so on. So My point is this part effect a lot in the Space consumption. And we have to see what exactly we want to do with our personal pics. I am categorizing this part only in 2.

1. Don't want to compromise: This is the category when anyone is Professional Photographs. They know what's the impact of slight change in the Quality of Photo.
2. Okay to compromise : When I am saying Okay, it doesn't means that snaps will be of low quality. But there will be some change which we will never ever figure out.

Videos:

Privacy:
Actually it's the same as case of Pics.

1. Public : We have some videos which we want to be seen by anyone anytime. we don't mind if others also share those videos in their circle.
2. Limited Public : Our Personal Videos which we jut want to share with our friends or family.
3. Private : We have created that and may have some confidential data. Basically, currently we just want to keep these videos online just for backup purpose.

Documents (PDFs/WordDoc/Xls/PPTs)

Usability:

• Very frequently used (Daily or 2-3 times in a week)
• Rarely or Not so frequently.

Type of Data:

• Very Confidential
• Important but not Confidential
• Data for Public Uses

Sharing:

• Private
• Public

Encrypted Data:

It’s basically the backup of your laptop or Phone.

Songs:

This is something which is just the collection of Songs. Few may have high quality which they have purchased, few may be freely downloaded. But as such there is nothing Confidential things here.

Movies:

This the data which we have copied from our friend's laptop or downloaded from Internet. We need this as part of Backup.

Software:

There are 2 type of Software.

• Pirated: In case of this, we want to keep them because these are expansive one and we have arranged these somehow.
• Original: We have purchased or downloaded. We have original Key and all.
